Recently, for the second year, the Andrew Fishenden Memorial
Traditional Shoot was held at the Manning Great Lakes Archers club, which is
sistuated along Joes Cutting Road, South of Taree.
All money raised at this shoot will be donated to;
Manning Valley Can Assist for cancer research.
The day started out quite cool then turned very hot.
The shooters were having so much fun they didn’t really notice the heat.
The first round for the day was 3D, which are 3D
animal target. Then the second round was long distance, (about 65 meters),
arrows were going everywhere, into trees, over, under and infront of the
target. The third round was called the bow bird shoot, it’s a small round
target that is thrown into the air and you are suposed to hit it with your
arrows. Now this was hiliarous to watch with five shooters firing at the same
time, arrows were flying all over the place, they were stuck high up in the
trees, hiding in bushes. The fourth was the speed round, where you fire arrows
at a moving target, well; you can imagine the fun and games we had with this
round. The last round tested our skills for rapid fire within a time period.
Archers that were unable come along really miss a
fantastic day.
Next year we hope to see many more archers at the
Andrew Fishenden Memorial Traditional Shoot as this is a major fund raising
event.
Winners of the shoot were: Phil Steele, Clifton Hardy,
Irene Hardy and cub, Harley Hardy.
Thank you to Max Hardy for donating the trophies for
this event.
