Next Sunday is the
last chance for shooters to put in a score sheet for the club championships and
it will be 3D. Our competition for those who don't know runs from the 1st of
Feb and ends on the 31st of October each calender year. As Pat said in an earlier
post you need to have a minimum of 4 score sheets in for each discipline to be
eligible so if you only have attended 3 shoots for the 3D this year, next
Sunday is your last chance.
During the summer months the club will still be business as usual and we will still hold Sunday and Thursday night shoots but no scores will be entered. Our plan is to hold a few fun day type shoots during the summer and the committee is currently looking at the options. We will keep you posted on these.
Overall, I feel the club has had a pretty good year. Our financial situation is good and membership has increased. My only concern is we don't seem to be getting a lot of shooters each week. Some weeks numbers are up but I really do hope this becomes the norm rather than the exception. I do realise not everyone can attend every week but I am hoping our numbers increase when we start shooting competition again next year. Working Bee attendance have not been great and again I am hopeful this might improve next year.
Our club AGM is on Saturday the 6th December at 2pm and a new committee will be elected. Some are standing down whilst some are putting their hands up for another year. Overall, I think the current committee did a good job and in particular on the Branch shoot held recently where the club profited in excess of $2000. For all those who took part and/or helped on those two days, thank you and well done.
By the time you read this the club should have a new coach: Mick Rowsell underwent the coaching course this weekend. I have no doubt Mick will be a good coach and a reliable assistant to Irene who is the current club coach. I have noticed on some of the coaching days we have had throughout the year, Irene has had her hands full with big numbers. I am sure she will appreciate the extra help. Next weekend Dave Tritton and myself will be put through the Bowhunters Education course whilst Doug Cane is doing the measurer's course. I look forward to it.
Until next time and if you have nothing to do next Sunday, come up and shoot the 3D.
