The inaugral Andrew Fishenden Traditional shoot was held at the Manning
range on the 15th December and what a day it turned out to be.  What started out as a simple idea put bandied
around amongst mates during
a practice round turned out to be one of the best
days I (and many others) have had on the range in recent
times.
The turn out was better than I expected and to be honest I have a feeling
this shoot will only get bigger and better should the club continue with
it.  I have no doubt some shooters felt very
much out of the comfort zones when they traded their stalwart compound for a
club recurve but at the end of the day I am sure everybody was more than happy
with how the day finished and there were some surprise results.

Four members took the fancy dress part really
to heart and both Irene Hardy and Glenys Allen looked great in their Indian
"Squaw" outfits. As for Karl Peck....well what more can I say other
than thankgod you had shorts on under that cavemans outfit Karl otherwise I
dont think I could have eaten my lunch and
Weetie...not sure what you were supposed to be but the outfits
configuration was a talking point.
It was good to see a couple of guests turn up those being Jeff and Andrew
Jennings from Gloucester and John Teitzel who hales from Tully Queensland.  For those who are not familiar with the name
John is somewhat of a legend within bowhunting circles and it was a priviledge
to meet the man and shoot with him.  (Doug
I told you to come but no....)
The day started with a normal 3 arrow 3D round which was followed after
lunch with novelty shoots. For me these novelty shoots were the highlight of
the day and many a laugh (at others expense) was had by all who took part.
There was the long distance shot of a boar across the gully, Running Deer,  Speed shoot, Flu Flu shoot and Mick Rowsell's
sneak shoot.  A presentation of trophies
for the lucky winners was had at the end of the day and I hope I have this
right but I believe Max and Irene actually made the trophies.  If this is correct you two did a brilliant
job on these unique trophies.  I am only
sorry I was not good enough to win one.
