The Manning District Bowhunters is a FAMILY ORIENTED ARCHERY CLUB that shoot every Sunday, Club on Joe's Cutting Road, 17 km south of Taree.


New members are always welcome, with qualified coaches on hand to introduce them into our sport.

On the 29th of November Manning Archers held a fun shoot on the Saturday morning for all club members, with cubs, juniors and seniors put in competing groups and given recurve bows and wooden arrows, there were five fun activities including running pig, speed shoot, clout, bird shoot and axe and knife throwing.

Fun was had by all groups with the Merry Men coming in first and the runners up being the angles, reindeers and elves groups, a big thank you to Mal Gorton and helpers for setting out the ranges, novelty events and trophy’s.

The AGM was held that afternoon with the new committee being voted in: Bob Wilson President, Mal Gorton vice president, Gail Taylor secretary, Irene Hardy Treasurer, Rob Taylor club coach, Wendy Gorton score recorder, Wes Bull range captain, Max Hardy target master, Mark Fotheringham ABA rep, Dave Tritton safety officer, Lyn Pender publicity.

After the AGM we held our presentations for the year with these people taking the awards.

Bowhunter of the Year and Best of Species won by Rowan Griffith.

Club Member of the year awarded the Wal Hodgkin Memorial Trophy was Stuart and Lyn Pender, it was received with great pride and Stuart and I wish to thank all members for their support over the last 8 years Thank you.

To all our Winners Congratulations and to those who missed out we hope you have better luck next year.

Saturday afternoon came alive with our Christmas Party, with fun and games had by all as children and adults tried their hardest to hit the moving piƱata’s.

The night settled down to a few members camping over and sitting around socialising and talking about the day’s events, once again proving that archery is a great family sport.

Once again our club wishes to extend our many thanks for all the publications of these reports this year and to all those who volunteer their time at the club to help out.
