Andrew Fishenden Memorial Traditional Shoot

Next weekend (21st and 22nd November) sees the third Andrew Fishenden Memorial Traditional Shoot. 
The first and second shoot were only held over one day, this year, it's been held over two.
This is a fun shoot using recurve and long bows with either wooden (Traditional) or Carbon (Modern) arrows. 
If you are planning on shooting at this event please let me know via return email including if you will be eating the evening meal Saturday night as this will assist us with catering. 
This should be a great weekend with 3D targets being shot both Saturday and Sunday mornings and some novelty events Saturday afternoon. 
All shoot fees are being donated to Can Assist Taree.

CLUB AGM

The clubs AGM will be held on 28 November, (2015) at 2pm.

1st meeting, 2nd Christmas party, 3rd presentation



For the Christmas Party, it would be appreciated if members could bring snacks, desserts or what ever you like along for the table.

Come, camp at the club over the weekend and have loads of fun.

FATHERSDAY FUN SHOOT

The club held a fathers day fun shoot on Sunday and it was a scream.
The members that weren't able to come on the day, have no idea the fun they missed out on.

One of the shots where there were balloons tied on rope across the practices range. The were several different  things put in the balloon. There was water, lollies, confetti and others had scratches in them. When the scratchy balloons where hit, the whistle would blow so the person could run up and retrieve  their, hopefully, winning ticket.    





Then there was the Speed round using six 3D targets, you had 30 sec to shoot six arrows.








There was also the Running Deer which is a 3D target on wire that is let go and the deer runs along the wire while you shoot at it.

  

The was the Long shot which was also included and the Bow Bird shot.

It was such a wonderful day

HOME SCHOOLING KIDS

The club has been coaching the Home Schooling kids every fortnight this year and it has been a lot of fun for them and us.



We have been coaching anywhere between 12 and twenty six kids each fortnight and they really enjoy archery.

There is one young girl, Shellby, who has become a great archer in her time at the club. We believe she has great potential to go a long way in this sport.

The kids just love being at the club because it is situated in the State Forest, so they have lots of things to look at and lots of room to run around and explore.

They always go away happy, it has been proven that archery is medicinal.

FABULOUS

One of our members, Gail Taylor, went into hospital on Tuesday to have a complete knee replacement.

Rob said, she is up walking today, Thursday.

Gail is doing really well and that is wonderful as she has been in severe pain for over two years.

The doctor has already completed the paper work for Gail to have her other knee replacement done.
It will be great to see Gail back at the club.

All our members send their love and wish you a quick recovery.

Singleton Branch 3D Titles

The last weekend in August saw 7 members of Manning District Bowhunters take the trek to Singleton for the Branch 3D Titles. Singleton Archery Society put on great weather, even if the breeze was a little fresh, with two beautiful sunny days of shooting.

Over 130 archers had turned out to shoot. The ranges were challenging with some deceptive distances bringing many archers unstuck. The placement of some of the targets was inspired with a bobcat in a tree, a turkey hiding in the hollow of a stump and the grizzly taking a leak inside a port-a-loo. The ranges were a pleasure to shoot with easy to navigate tracks. Great food and exceptional company kept everyone happy during the evening, although the nights were a little cool.

The weekend ended with Singleton putting together a well-stocked raffle table.  The Manning team were very lucky winning several prizes. Our luck continued during presentations with six shooters achieving top 3 positions in their respective shoot categories.

REMINDER

REMINDER: The Manning District Bowhunters are holding there half yearly meeting tomorrow at 2pm. Hope to see as many members as possible there. 

At 12.30 there will be a BBQ to farewell Dan Scott. Dan has been in the club for a long time but most important, is the work he has put into the club in his time there. Good Luck Dan

REASONS WHY ARCHERY IS BETTER THAN SEX!

 Hope this does not offend anyone.

1. You don’t have to sneak your archery magazines into the house.

2. If you are having trouble with archery, it is perfectly acceptable to pay a professional to show you how to improve your technique.
3. The Ten Commandments don’t say anything about archery.
4. If your partner takes pictures or videotapes of you shooting arrows, you don’t have to worry about them showing up on the Internet when you become famous.
5. Your archery partner won’t keep asking questions about other partners you’ve shot with.
6. It’s perfectly respectable to shoot arrows with a total stranger.
7. When you see a really good archer, you don’t have to feel guilty about imagining the two of you shooting together.
8. If your regular archery partner isn’t available, he/she won’t object if you shooting with someone else.
9. Nobody will ever tell you that you will go blind if you archery by yourself.
10. When dealing with a archery pro, you never have to wonder if they are really an undercover.
11. You don’t have to go to a sleazy shop to buy cool archery stuff.
12. You can have a archery calendar on your wall at the office, tell archery jokes and invite coworkers to shoot with you without getting sued for harassment.
13. There is no such thing as a archery transmitted disease.
14. If you want to watch archery on television, you don’t have to subscribe to a premium channel.
15. Nobody expects you to promise to shoot arrows with just one partner for the rest of your life.
16. Nobody expects you to give up archery if your partner loses interest in the game.
17. You don’t have to be a newlywed to plan a vacation primarily for the enjoyment of archery.
18. Your archery partner will never say, “What? We just shot last week! Is that all you ever think about?”

CLUB SIGN

I'm looking for a lady that came out to the Manning Archery club just after Christmas. She made a sign for the club and asked instead of being paid if the payment could be used to pay her sons club membership fee. Yes it can be paid as your sons fees. Hello Everyone,

A reminder of  our Half Yearly AGM which you all were informed of on your club calendar will be this coming Saturday at 2.00pm. 

Saturday morning will be a Working Bee and also to put out the 3D targets for Sunday's shoot.  We do need as many of you that can give a hand. 

At 12.30pm there will be a BBQ and Presentation to our dear Dan Scott who has now stepped down from Club Activities.  Dan has been with us for over 15 years and has kept the Amenities clean and the fires burning so that hot showers were enjoyed by those who attended our Branch Events. He has worn many hats during his time.  Range Captain etc.  He was always in the background doing doing and doing. Dan will be missed dearly by all.  Please come along and bid this icon a fond farewell.

THE WINNER

Archer’s, If you have not been to our club for a while, you are going to be shocked at all the improvements going on. 

Our stand-in President, Glenys Allen  and her helpers have been busy for the last month or so improving our club house. They have done an outstanding job. 

Coaching has been going well. We have had a steady flow of new members, which is great to see and they are enjoying archery with great enthusiasm.

Our club had members go to the National ABA and 3D Safari, which was held at Wagga last month and they did very well. Glenys, winning gold twice, came away as the Australian Champion in ABA and 3D. Congratulations to Glenys.     

Glenys is doing well this year as she has just come back from a 3DAAA shoot at Lake Macquarie as the winner of the top ten unaided shoot out. 


 

Archery is a family sport, a great fun sport with friends to be made and lots of adventurer
to be had along the way. The young ones love this sport, if not more than the mature ladies and men. Come along and see for yourself and give archery a try.

 The club has archery gear for you to use.

We are on Joe’s Cutting Road, (then turn onto Range Road), 17km south of Taree.

There is coaching on the 1^st and 2^nd Sunday of each month. From 10am till 12pm.
